Nordic walking seems to be all the rage today. The sport consists in walking with specific poles, allowing for some seriuosly fast action. Invented by Finnish cross country skiers looking for a summer alternative to nordic skiing, the sport is getting more and more popular also in our region among those into active outdoor life.
To whom this sport is meant to? Easy and enjoybale, this sport can be considered suitable for people of all ages, considering that each person can decide how fast (or slow) to walk. Nordic walking can be performed on mountain trails, meadows and vast valleys, by using specific poles and by simulating nordic skiing typical alternate step. The movement results more effective and intense than traditional walking but less demanding than running; it carries less stress on legs’ joints and helps building strenght on torso muscles (dorsals and abs), shoulders and arms’ muscles.
