Lake Caldaro is the warmest lake in the Alps as well as the largest natural bathing lake in South Tyrol. Wonderfully located on 216 m asl, lake Caldaro represents a little natural paradise which has been included in the European network for protected areas „Natura 2000“. The reeds on the southern side of the lake are an important breeding and spawning ground for many fish, water insects as well as water birds and amphibians. The biotope lake Caldaro is for sure an important natural oasis for many different animals but at the same time also a very appreciated holiday destination. Along its shores indeed there are several bathing beaches, camping places as well as restaurants, hotels and also little harbours for sailing boats.
